Hubby and I went into Melbourne last week, had a walk around, we've not been into the city all year. We crossed the Yarra River and there were all these padlocks on the railing fence. They were from all over the world. Must find out what it signifies.

I like those fences with locks on them, but mostly they can't hold the weight and crash. Couples put them on there and then throw the key into the river. They think their love lasts forever then :D

Interesting photos and I've heard of these love locks in other cities too. Have a great day!
locks of love are spreading, i see.
The locks are supposed to be good luck for each couple that places one on a bridge.
I remember seeing something about this but have forgotten what it was. Now I have to do some research. Interesting.
Certainly a fascinating tradition but I've heard it can be dangerous too when the weight becomes to heavy for the structure.
The padlocks look very neat! Love the bridge in the background; very nice view!
Pretty photo! I hope those lock-leavers have good luck!

I see they are getting more locks on that fence
Such an interesting thing to do! I had never heard of this.
What a neat idea. Hopefully this fence will be able to take the weight.
Lovely how the locks add so much colour to the scene.
The hanging padlocks are intriguing. Nice views.
I love this form of street art and the romance of the idea! Glad you enjoyed your visit to our neck of the woods!

Lock it up stranger.
So cool! I'd love to see all those padlocks in person.
